Day of Health & Financial Wellness

Day of Health & Financial Wellness

The Overtown Youth Center Family Services team hosted a “fruitful event” to educate, engage and empower families in our community!– “A Day of Family and Community Connection” where the Green Haven Project, Urban Garden and Chase Bank collaborated in a hands-on learning workshop.

Families were able to immerse themselves in learning about various plants, fruits, vegetables and nutrition while also participating in a financial wellness workshop presented by Chase Bank representatives.

This day of connection focused on community gardens and sustainable eco systems in urban areas.  These areas, often known as food deserts where residents generally have little to no space to plant and grow foods, or access to fresh produce within a 10 mile radius. Their mission is to empower residents to live a healthy, sustainable life through fresh locally grown food.

What a way to partner and uplift “growth” within our community! Thank you to all who participated!
