Our Programs

OYC’s programming is designed to engage children in educational and recreational activities that promote their academic, social, emotional and physical development. It boasts five major components designed to empower youth to excel in school and in life overall. A wide range of preventive and character-building activities also teach youth to identify negative influences, avoid them and pursue positive pathways to success. Learn more below:

IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM

OYC’s in-school coordinators provide daily case management and advocacy for OYC participants within their schools and the community; tracking scholastic achievement, attendance, and behaviors to ensure students are on.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

OYC’s after-school programming takes place within the agency’s partner schools, Monday through Friday and occasional Super Saturdays.

SUMMER PROGRAM

OYC understands that children’s scholastic levels can decrease during long vacations.  To combat this, a six-week Summer Program is available which is designed to maintain and/or increase students’ academic progress and motivation during the summer months.

POST HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

OYC supports students beyond high school by providing a variety of academic, social and economic supports to help them navigate emerging adulthood. The OYC College and Career Readiness Specialists and agency Success Coaches provide continuous development support to ensure OYC graduates are successful in college, on-the-job and throughout life.

NURTURING PARENTING PROGRAM

Parent and caregiver involvement is critical to children’s development. OYC Miami’s Family Services Team provides an extensive array of support services aimed at enhancing parent-child interactions, social support for families, and promoting the academic success and social emotional development of children.

UNITED WAY EDEN PLACE

Overtown Youth Center collaborated with The United Way to launch EDEN Place Family Resource Center in 2016.  Based on the premise Educate, Develop, Empower and Nurture, EDEN Place empowers families throughout the region through access to workshops, workforce entry support, and one-on-one help with an overall goal to help families feel engaged, empowered and strong.

NEAT STUFF

Neat Stuff, Powered by the Overtown Youth Center, provides complimentary new clothing, school uniforms and other basic necessities to disadvantaged children in our communities, including those in transition (homeless, foster care, etc.).

OPTIMIST K-1

The Overtown Youth Center (OYC) in partnership with Overtown Optimist Club provides quality services to kindergarten and first grade students attending the Overtown Optimist Club afterschool program.
