13 Apr College Tour
Soon-to-be high school graduates from the Overtown Youth Center and Honey Shine participated in a Spring Break College Tour. During the course of a week our youth were able to engage with current undergraduate and graduate students at each college stop to spark their interest and expose them to college life.
These incoming college freshman visited colleges and universities in Florida and Louisiana with Florida A&M University being the first stop. This historic black college, located in Tallahassee has a profound and deep history. Our youth were able to visit various locations around campus, while learning about different field of studies and careers available to them.
The last leg of the tour for our college bound scholars was in New Orleans, Louisiana, where the students visited Louisiana State and Tulane Universities. With the help of college student tour guides, our kids received a firsthand look at college life. The goal of this Spring Break College Tour was reached, as our youth were able to see the vast options available to them to excel in higher learning.
