The Game – Save Our Sons

Save Our Sons is a hallmark initiative that was developed to enhance the lives of young men in Overtown and surrounding communities. On July 29th, OYC Miami hosted the Save Our Sons Summit, which addresses issues that impact the trajectory of the lives of young men growing up in urban areas.

This year’s series THE GAME – included powerful workshops focused on sports. Our kids learned the importance of building a team, camaraderie and unity. Our kids got firsthand help with sporting techniques, learned about careers in sports, and they were able to interact with some remarkable men and mentors. We’d like to recognize the stellar participation of Seth Levit from the Jason Taylor Foundation who hosted several sessions for our young men, and Akin Ayodele, former NFL linebacker and currently Business Development Executive, who brought his real life perspective on “the game” and shared his personal/ professional story with our young scholars. Richard Qualis and Hector Maradiaga also were on the Save our Sons Panel, and they provided our kids with motivating tips, that will help them reach the next level.

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for partnering with us on this impactful seminar.
