21 Sep Back To School Health and Wellness Fair
Our summer campers celebrated the end of summer with a Back-to-School Health and Wellness Carnival, presented by our host sponsors Calder & Caleb Awesome Foundation and Angels for Humanity. This amazing day featured outdoor games, bounces house, hair styling, manicures, health and wellness checkups, and of course delicious food. CC Awesome Foundation and Angels for Humanity provide each youth with a backpack filled with all the essential learning tools needed when schools starts.
This event would not have been possible without the devoted support of our outstanding community partners: The Children’s Trust, United Way, City of Miami, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, United Way, the Little Lighthouse Foundation, Pepsi, Children’s Bereavement Center, DTLR, Empower U CHC, Miami-Dade Public Schools, the Miami Foundation, Education Florida, the City of Miami Parks, Miami-Dade County, the RJKB Family Foundation, as well as special thank you to Gibson Charter School, the Miami Police Department, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, America Corps and Summer Job Connect.
In addition, we would like to acknowledge Sydney Paige, who worked diligently with the CC Awesome Foundation to ensure we had all the backpacks and supplies we needed for this event.
Thank you Calvin Hughes and Chris Sloan for being the bridge that brought all these wonderful organizations together. Through your assistance we were able to expand our back-to-school event and make it one of the largest ever.
And a HUGE thank you to our always dedicated, committed and outstanding staff and volunteers. Your hard work is essential to OYC’s mission.
