During Camp Honey Shine, our honey bugs met Olympic Medalist, Maritza McClendon, the first African-American woman to make the USA Olympic Swimming Team. Martiza hosted a Swim Clinic for girls at Camp Honey Shine! Ms. Maritza helped our Honey Bugs learn water safety, swimming techniques and shared her inspirational story. Our honey bugs also had the chance to touch and feel Ms. Martiza’s Olympic medal.

This unique and unforgettable experience was courteous of Claro Development owner Sandor Scher. Mr. Scher generously gifted Honey Shine with this priceless swim clinic after placing the winning bid for the USA Swimming Foundation – Golden Google Awards Silent Auction for the the Swim 1922 Clinc with Olympian Maritza
